T1D is an autoimmune disease that is diagnosed in both children and adults and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant attention and action—including overnight. Even with a strict regimen, people with T1D can still experience dangerously high or low blood sugar that can lead to complications and, in extreme cases, be life-threatening.

Walk Day Schedule:
There is something for everyone on Walk Day! Come ready to celebrate in your team t-shirts and connect with our T1D community and enjoy the 1 mile Walk around the Whitewater Center with your team.You will be inspired and entertained with this year's Walk host, Jervay Vanderhost, and DJ Brett Verrico as we come together to celebrate our shared vision of a world without T1D! We will also have a special appearance by our Walk Champion and professional racecar driver, Hunter Jordan and Chloe Lewis, Miss American Sweetheart,who both live with T1D!
8:00 am - Site Opens & Walk Day Fun Begins
Come early, have fun and get ready to Walk. Have fun in the Activities Area (photobooth, face painting, decorating pumpkins and sashes.) Stop by T1D Resources & Support to connect with Breakthrough T1D, diabetes vendors and community organizations to learn about the latest technology and resources available to help you.
9:00 am - Team Spirit Contest
Represent your Walk team and team t-shirt! Desiginate a representative(s) from your team to show their "Team Spirit" by strutting across the stage for their chance to be one of the Top 3 Winners of the contest. The judges may be influenced by creativity and the applause from the crowd.
9:30 am - T1D Parade (Everyone with T1D that would like to particpate in the T1D parade should line up at 9:20 am behind the stage to process in by 9:30 am)
The parade is designed to celebrate those living with T1D and allow for all attendees to be honored and recognized. Everyone living with T1D is invited to particiapte in the parade to help us remember why we Walk.
9:40 am - Opening Ceremony
We will celebrate all that we have accomplished together before the Walk starts.
9:55 am - Special Ribbon Cutting & Walk Countdown
Our Top New Team will count us down and cut the ceremonial ribbon to lead the Walk.
10:00 am - Walk Begins
Enjoy the 1 mile Walk around the Whitewater Center with your team. Please note that part of the route is gravel. Keep an eye out for reminders of why we Walk along the way.
10:30 - 11:30 am - After Party
