In Honor and Memory of Joe Mattes and Support of Benny and Family

We’re walking to raise money for Breakthrough T1D, the leading global type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and advocacy organization.

In August 2023, at just 4 years old, Benny was diagnosed with T1D.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that is diagnosed in both children and adults and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant attention and action—including overnight. Even with a strict regimen, people with T1D can still experience dangerously high or low blood sugar that can lead to complications and, be life-threatening.

Benny's late grandfather, Joe Mattes, was hoping to attend this year's walk to support and encourage Benny and his family. Although he's now in heaven, we know he is with us in spirit. Thank you for your donation in his memory and honor.
