Let's Breakthrough T1D!
My son Lance has Type-1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease (gluten allergy). We are about to pass a new milestone on our journey with this disease. Lance just graduated from High School and will be venturing off to Oklahoma University for college in the Fall. For the first time in his life, he will be living on his own to self-mange this disease. It is a scary thought for me and my wife; we won’t be there to remind him to change his pod, check his blood sugar, or give him a juice box for a low in the middle of the night.
These scary challenges inspire me to raise money for a Type-1 Diabetes cure. I am representing JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) on a week-long Canadian National Park cycling trip to raise money for Type-1 Diabetes research. This cycling adventure will be a bit different than what I have done in the past as it covers over 350 miles of cycling within a week instead of a single century ride in a day.
I have already begun training by riding on consecutive days to get used to a minimal recovery approach, but there is not much time as the event begins in late July. Please support me in my *Quest for a Cure* by donating to JDRF. You will be helping not only my son, but the millions of other kids and adults saddled with this disease, and getting a tax deduction to boot.
Thanks so much for your support,
Team Lance-a-lot
