Breakthrough T1D Ride is a charitable bike ride that raises money for those affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Ride gives cyclists of every skill level the opportunity to join a community dedicated to ending T1D.

Participants can choose from a variety of stunning destination rides across the country or you can choose Breakthrough T1D My Ride, giving you the flexibility to join a local ride in your area or create your own mileage and fundraising challenge. No matter how you participate, you will receive guidance from coaches and your local Breakthrough T1D chapter to help you reach your goals.

Breakthrough T1D Ride isn't just a bike ride: it's a movement of thousands of riders coming together from all over the world with a shared goal of making T1D a thing of the past.

Joining My Ride is free, with an option for a self-donation at registration to kick-start your fundraising. For Destination Rides, there are a variety of fundraising packages to choose from and a $100 registration fee which contributes to your fundraising minimum. Click here for more details.

Participants must be 13 or older to participate. Minors (13-17) need parental consent and must be accompanied by a guardian.

You can cancel your registration for Breakthrough T1D My Ride at any time, and up to 30 days prior to your Breakthrough T1D Destination Ride without penalty. Registration fees and fundraising are non-refundable. If you wish to cancel your registration outside of that timeline, please reach out to us at ride@BreakthroughT1D.org.

Once you start fundraising, we bet you’ll find that it’s easier than you think! Fundraising packages won’t be upgraded automatically; if you surpass your goal and want higher-tier perks, email us at ride@BreakthroughT1D.org. We can process changes up to 90 days before the event, based on availability.

The quickest way is to direct donors to your Ride page to make an online donation. Connecting your Participant Center to Facebook is an easy and helpful way to help encourage online giving as well. If you receive cash and check donations, use the Ride app to mobile deposit and watch your donations appear on your fundraising thermometer in real time!

Yes! The new app makes fundraising effortless: ask for donations via social media, email, and text, manage your page, earn badges, and even deposit checks! Download from the App Store or Google Play by searching "Breakthrough T1D Ride."

Absolutely! Coaches help riders set goals and assist with training plans as requested. So much of the enjoyment within the Ride community is through the social interactions through group rides and social gatherings. Please check with your Coach and local Chapter to see what's happening in your area!

Depending on your fundraising package, we partner with bike shipping companies to transport your bike to and from your Destination Ride event. For those who do not have bike shipping included in your fundraising package, you will have the option to use our bike shipping vendor's services as well. More details will be shared closer to the event.

Absolutely! Regardless of how you choose to ride, you will still be recognized for this incredible milestone. A member of our team will reach out to you to confirm details of how you will receive your special jersey.
