100KM to Cure Type 1 Diabetes
If you are on this page to donate in memory of my Grandpa, Louis Santore, I would like to say thank you for not only donating, but for honoring his memory through charity. My grandpa was a huge advocate for Breakthrough T1D (formally JDRF), and he was a huge advocate for me. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 1, and he immediately came to the hospital to help my mom and dad for me. He made sure he knew everything about Type 1 Diabetes to properly care for me when I was a child and help me when needed as an adult. He told his friends and family about Breakthrough T1D to spread awareness for the research they fund to one day cure Type 1 Diabetes. I am honored he chose Breakthrough T1D to be the charity to honor his memory.
My grandpa was a wonderful man, and he was loved by many. Thank you for honoring him.
Information about my ride is below:
I fell in love with the Ride mission after participating in the JDRF Burlington Ride in 2023. My father and I rode 100km each, and we were able to meet so many people who were inspirational to me. Many of the riders had Type 1 Diabetes themselves, and I was so proud to be riding my bike alongside of them.
Even though Type 1 Diabetes causes many difficulties in my life, it has certainly made me the person that I am today, and I am proud of the determination and perseverance it has given me. I have made it my mission to use this to my advantage and help the JDRF with their goal to turn Type 1 into Type None. Each day, more people are getting diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and no one deserves to go through the turmoil a chronic disease puts you through. Millions of people are fighting Type 1 Diabetes like me, and the difficulties of the chronic illness do not ease day to day. Finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes is vital.
This year, I will be committing to ride 100km in LaCrosse, Wisconsin! Please join me in my mission to cure Type 1 Diabetes by donating to my page! If you have generously donated to me in the past, thank you for fighting T1D with me each year, and thank you for donating again. If you have not donated before but would like to now, thank you so much for joining this mission today!
Thank you all in advance! :)
