Let's Make T1D History!

Since 2015, I've been swimming, cycling and running for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. This year, I will 'only' be cycling... 100 miles. I will be participating in my sixth Century Ride for JDRF in Burlington VT on July 13. My goal is to raise $20,000.

Why JDRF? My Hannah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes back in 2011 when she was 11. She was forced to grow up quickly learning how to manage this very demanding disease. Counting carbs, calculating insulin ratios, waiting for a low to be corrected to resume activity, keeping her A1C in the ‘good zone’  to prevent long term damage from excessive high blood sugars… the list goes on and on. That is a lot to manage for anyone, let alone a teenager! While she now has an easier time managing all of these variables because she wears an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor, it is still very tricky.

Thanks to research that is continually being done by doctors and scientists, there are many advancements making living with this disease more manageable. However, this research costs millions of dollars every year… which is why I continue to challenge myself physically, hoping to inspire you to support my fundraiser.

There are SO many amazing organizations and charities, all asking for much-needed funds. It would mean everything to me if you could add this fundraiser to your list this year- any amount is SO appreciated and needed!

Thank you in advance for your support!

With gratitude,

Leslie
