Let's Make T1D History!

As dedicated as anyone you've ever met, Jean Kuczka was incredibly active with JDRF. Jean's son, Joe Kuczka, was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 10. After this diagnosis, Jean promised to fight to find a cure for everyone living with T1D. Jean fought to find a cure every year and raised thousands of dollars.

Jean was set to participate in her 15th JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes in December of 2022 in Amelia Island. Tragically, she lost her life protecting her students on October 24, 2022, in the school shooting at CVPA High School, where she taught PE and Health. We now promise to carry on her mission and legacy. We ride on in honor of Jean Kuczka for Joe Kuczka.

There will be nine of us participating in the ride this year: Steve Kuczka, Steve Kuczka Jr., Joe Kuczka, Abbey Kuczka, Isabelle Webb, Brandon Boeger, Megan Boeger, Braeden Boeger, and Ethan Boeger.

We're participating in the JDRF Ride because we know that our fundraising and cycling efforts will help improve the lives of millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease that impacts millions of people - its causes are not fully known, and currently, there is no cure. To manage their T1D, people regularly monitor their blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump, and carefully balance those doses with eating and daily activities to prevent uncomfortable, and even dangerous, side effects. Every single day.

JDRF is leading the fight against T1D by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D. But they can’t do it without our support.

We've set our fundraising goal high and am counting on your help to get us there by Ride Day. No donation is too small, and every dollar truly makes a difference.

Thank you for your support!
