It's time to light up Rockaway again!
Join us for Joseph Mure Jr. and Jodi Tucci's 29th annual Little North Pole at Beach 144th and Neponsit Avenue!
Christmas is coming early this year- join us on December 7th to light up the community and ring in holiday cheer.
“I wanted it to be a community staple. I wanted to give back to the community. I wanted to give to the children. I wanted people to come by and take a memory of Christmas. Let it last for a lifetime,” said Mure. “We started small, it grew and got bigger. And we do it the same way as when we started it. Provide entertainment for people coming out. Let them smile, give them a memory.”
Enjoy a memorable afternoon filled with live entertainment, delicious food donated by generous local vendors, and toys for every kid. Thousands of locals join us for the day, and hundreds of thousands tune in from around the world to watch Joseph and Jodi bring light to their community!
What started as a small event for his family 29 years ago, has grown into an impactful and memorable day. Joseph and Jodi, along with the help of hundreds of members of their community, spend weeks setting up for December 7th. And they do it all to give back to their community, and their family- They have raised over $1M for Breakthrough T1D and type 1 diabetes (T1D) since they started 28 years ago. For Joe and Jodi, this disease is personal. Joseph's son Michael and daughter Christina both are living with type 1 diabetes.
Living with T1D means there are no days off and there is no cure. But there is hope. Your generosity will help Breakthrough T1D fund life-changing breakthroughs to remove the incredible daily burden of this disease—such as the work being done on the close loop system (or Artificial Pancreas).
In people with T1D, the body often defies even the most vigilant efforts to keep blood-sugar levels normal. Artificial pancreas systems, however, take over much of the blood-sugar management. They monitor blood glucose levels with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and use an algorithm to automatically provide the right amount of insulin at the right time—much like a normal pancreas would do naturally. These advances allow those living with T1D and their families a better quality of life until a cure is found.
