In 2021 Luke launched the Luke Kunin T1D Fund, with proceeds benefiting Breakthrough T1D, to create awareness, fund research, and support kids and their families impacted by Type 1 diabetes. For San Jose Sharks home games, he invites kids and their families from the Breakthrough T1D Northern California Chapter to attend the game as his guests. They get to enjoy the experience of attending an NHL game and meet Luke afterwards.
