As a constituent who cares deeply about type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, I'm writing to share my appreciation for the continued funding for the Special Diabetes Program (SDP) that was included in the year-end funding bill enacted by Congress.

Since it was established, the SDP has played a pivotal role in nearly every gamechanger in T1D research and daily management of the condition. In addition, it drives research towards cures, speeding up our path to the day when we can all walk away from this disease for good.

This commitment to T1D research through the National Institutes of Health will ensure critical progress continues uninterrupted while Congress works to enact a longer-term renewal next year.
